GOUROCK to Dunoon ferry operator Western Ferries (Clyde) has blamed the lacklustre economy for a drop in passenger numbers as it fell to a post-tax loss on the back of a multi-million pound back-dated tax bill.
Accounts filed with Companies House revealed that passenger numbers on Western Ferries' fleet of four roll-on roll-off ferries dropped 1.9% during the financial year to March 31, 2011.
It still managed to increase turnover by 2% to £6.3 million in the year.
