Wetherspoon to think again after battle of Stirling

DEFIANT Watford-based pub chain JD Wetherspoon has vowed to return to Stirling to refight a bitter licensing and planning battle that saw plans for a large-scale pub in the city's historic heart defeated.

A spokesman for the group told the Sunday Herald that Wetherspoons was "as committed as ever to opening a pub in Stirling" and that it was likely to appeal against last week's decision by Stirling Council's licensing board, which rejected the bid by four votes to two.
