PERSIMMON Homes West Scotland is to invest £75m in building 500 new homes next to Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre.

The Boulevard development is located on Barrhead Road, Cowglen in Glasgow on the site of the former National Savings & Investment building.

Over a number of years the development will come to feature two bedroom apartments as well as two, three, four and five-bedroom home. Permission said it would help create up to 1,200 jobs.

Doug Law, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “Our investment in Glasgow forms an integral part of our expansion programme to bring new homes to the region to help meet the growing housing demand.

The announcement comes after Glasgow City Council unveiled plans to deliver 25,000 new homes by 2025, in order to meet the city’s property needs.

In its most recent results Persimmon’s pre-tax profits jumped from £475million to £638m, on revenue up from £2.6bn to £2.9bn.
