SCOTTISH temporary power company Aggreko has announced the government of Argentina has extended 174 megawatts of fixed-site contracts until December 31.

It added that standby contracts in Argentina, now amounting to 214MW, had now all been extended until the end of February or March.

The company said all of the contracts had been priced in line with its expectations.

Shares in Aggreko rose by 24.5p or 2.5 per cent to 1012p yesterday, amid sterling weakness. A weaker pound boosts the sterling value of the overseas revenues of international companies such as Aggreko.

On January 4, Aggreko said it had been selected as official temporary electricity generation provider for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang in South Korea in 2018.
