MORE than 130 Glasgow businesses have been given the chance to win valuable contracts with City Building, after being awarded framework sub-contractor status in a new three-year deal.

More than four fifths (82.5 per cent) of the businesses are small and medium-sized enterprises.

City Building, a commercial offshoot from Glasgow City Council’s building services department, has included 136 Glasgow-based companies in its framework to supply more than 70 construction and trades services.

Each of the successful suppliers was subjected to a detailed evaluation process, with bids individually assessed by a team of 20 experts across eight separate divisions within City Building.

According to recent research, City Building supports a turnover of nearly £325 million across companies in the city.
