CHRIS Masters has resigned from the board of intellectual property attorney Murgitroyd after serving less than two years.

In a 19 word statement to the stock exchange, the Edinburgh-based legal firm said the non-executive director had resigned with immediate effect.

When contacted by The Herald, the company declined to elaborate.

Mr Masters, who recently turned 70, was executive chairman of temporary power group Aggreko from 1997 until 2002. He was with the company for 18 years in total.

In July last year Mr Masters stepped down from the chair of smart-metering specialist Energy Assets Group, and in April 2016 he resigned from a non-executive director role at The Crown Agents.

In the year to May 31 Mr Masters received £18,000 in remuneration from Murgitroyd.
