Brand Bowmore pays off as distiller toasts 7% profit leap

Morrison Bowmore Distillers enjoyed a 7% leap in profits last year on the back of strong growth from its malt whisky portfolio, and its chief executive told The Herald he sensed the entire industry was “having a much better year” in 2010.

Mike Keiller described the company’s performance for the 2009 calendar year as “excellent” and said that investment in recent years in its Bowmore and Auchentoshan single malt brands was starting to pay off with “significant growth”.
