Richard Ackroyd, chief executive of Scottish Water, who has been a prime target for critics in the political row over quango pay, said he would waive 25% of his bonus and ask the company to donate it to Water Aid.
Scotland’s £263,000-a-year water chief has defended his pay and given part of his bonus to an international non-governmental organisation which aims to improve access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities.
