The tie-up will be launched in Edinburgh on Wednesday with an evening of short presentations from the Peterborough-based IOE, covering intellectual property, the smart exporter programme, the technical terminology governing world trade, foreign exchange and intellectual property for international trade.
Other speakers include Ken Merson, founder of Sykam Solutions, who will discuss how he assisted an internationally-ambitious jewellery company through the “trials” of copyrights, patents and trademarks.
Ross Clark, operations director at Scottish Chambers International, responsible for delivering smart exporter, the three-year international skills programme specifically designed to increase exporting skills and knowledge among ambitious Scottish businesses, will describe the free support available to Scottish businesses to assess and exploit their export potential.
Lesley Batchelor, national chairman of the IOE, will provide an update on the launch of the revised International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) 2010 and the training available.
Adrian Sutherland, head of corporate sales at foreign exchange broker World First, will discuss the company’s new IOEFX service and cover a range of topics including competitive exchange rates and hedging strategies to mitigate exchange rate fluctuations.
Founded in 1973 to promote industry and commerce, but until now without direct links with Scottish institutions, the IOE aims to advance public education in the needs of exporters.
