Fund manager has played all the right notes in new career

Like politicians, fund managers with a hinterland beyond their narrow professional sphere are a rare breed.

Competition to get to the top in the financial hothouses of the Edinburgh and London, as at Westminster and Holyrood, rather favours the tunnel-visioned.

One exception is Paul Jourdan, who in January launched the Amati Global Partners fund house in Edinburgh.
