Glasgow engineer Weir Group will make a bid for early promotion to the prestigious FTSE 100 share list of the UK’s biggest companies on Tuesday when chief executive Keith Cochrane is set to announce news of surging profits and to flesh out ambitious new growth targets.
Directors believe that the package should help underpin the group’s soaring popularity in stock markets where its share price has virtually doubled since the departure of former boss Mark Selway last autumn to give it a stock market value of £2.5 billion.
