Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 600 prime lambs in Lanark on Monday to a top of £92 per head and 207.3p per kg to average 179.4p (-16.1p on the week), while 121 hoggs levelled at 133.8p (-1.8p).

The firm also had 167 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £128.50 for a Texel and £67.50 for Blackfaces.

Wallets Marts sold 683 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £80 and 193.6p to average 172p (-22.1p).

A small show of 99 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £95 for Suffolks and £64 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 9 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1297.20 per head and 233p per kg to average £1171.56 and 209.8p, while two prime bullocks levelled at £867.75 and 195p. Two prime bulls averaged £818 .55 and 178.9p.

In the rough ring 43 beef cows averaged 139.9p and 68 dairy cows levelled at 108.6p. Six bulls averaged 137.1p.

A smaller show of 7 dairy cattle sold to £1450 for a freshly-calved heifer and averaged £1231.
