Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 1505 prime lambs in Lanark on Monday to a top of £85 per head and 202.4p per kg to average 155.5p (-9p on the week).

Wallets Marts sold 1282 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £80 and 174.1p to average 153.6p (-8.4p).

A larger show of 257 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £131 for a pen of Texels and £65 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 17 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1393.80 per head and 235p per kg to average £1237.24 and 215.3p, while 3 prime bulls peaked at £1231.25 and 209p to level at £1152.27 and 203.3p.

In the rough ring 87 beef cows averaged 134.6p and 104 dairy cows levelled at 103.8p. Ten bulls averaged 115.6p and 12 clean OTM cattle levelled at 153.5p.

The firm also held their July show and sale of dairy cattle when the championship was awarded to a fresh-calved, pedigree Friesian heifer off Baltersan that sold for 1400gns. Six pedigree heifers averaged £1407 and 15 commercial cows and heifers levelled at £1054.
