The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 2567 store lambs in Longtown yesterday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds: Suffolks £58 and £52.99; Texels £61 and £53.55; Greyface £55 and £46,47.
Wallets Marts sold 1149 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £82 per head and 182p per kg to average 145.6p (-12.9p).
The 294 cast sheep were cheaper on the week with ewes selling to £101.50 for Texels and £51.50 for Blackfaces.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 240p per kg and an average of 214.2p, while 8 prime bullocks peaked at 202p and levelled at 194.3p.
In the rough ring 79 beef cows averaged 120.9p and 120 dairy cows levelled at 88.4p. Fourteen bulls averaged 109.3p.
A small show of 4 dairy cattle sold to £1180 for a second-calved HF and averaged £1126.
