Wallets Marts sold 3718 Scotch Mule gimmers at their annual sale in Castle Douglas on Saturday to a top of £168 and an average of £128.50 (-£19.09 on the year).

The firm went on to sell 9119 Scotch Mule ewe lambs at the same venue on Monday to a top of £126 and an average of £89.63 (-£14.68).

United Auctions sold 6020 store lambs and feeding sheep at Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds of store lambs: Suffolks to £63.50 and averaged £56.82 (+£1.95 on the week); Texels £64 and £52.47 (-£1.10); Mules £52.50 and £48.23 (+30p); Cheviots £52 and £49.92 (+22p); Blackfaces £44.50 and £36.72 (-19p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 261p per kg and an average of 239.4p (-4.6p), while 19 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 232p and levelled at 203.4p (-7.6p). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 174p and averaged 151.2p (+7.2p).

In the rough ring 41 beef cows averaged 120.1p (-2.6p) and 60 dairy cows levelled at 88.6p (-1.5p).

The firm also sold 2815 prime lambs to a top of £77 per head and 179.1p per kg to average 143.2p (-5.9p).

The 663 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £135.50 for Texels and £63.50 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 10 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1404 per head and 240p per kg to average of £1186.93 and 212.9p, while 8 prime bulls peaked at £1203.60 and 200p to level at £1060.65 and 184.3p.

In the rough ring 77 beef cows averaged 129.8p and 138 dairy cows levelled at 85.2p. Seven bulls averaged 116.2p.

A large show of 26 dairy cattle sold to £1400 for a freshly-calved HF heifer and averaged £1080.
