Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 222 store heifers in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of 228.7p per kg and an average of 204.6p (+1.4p on the corresponding sale last year), while 442 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 244.9p and levelled at 210.2p (-6.3p). Ninety-one store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 159.3p and averaged 143.4p (-8p).

John Swan Ltd sold 43 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 221.9p (+1.9p on the week), while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 245p and levelled at 211.2p (-8.4p).

In the rough ring 34 beef cows averaged 125.6p (+5.4p).

The firm also sold 1992 prime lambs to a top of £82 per head and 174p per kg to average £62.47 and 143p (+3p).

The 665 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £80 for Cheviots and average £55.49, while light ewes peaked at £44 for Blackfaces and levelled at £34.84.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 27 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 217.5p and an average of 194.3p (+0.9p), while 25 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224.5p and levelled at 197.9p (+11.7p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks averaged 146p (-5.5p). Forty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 222.5p and averaged 192.6p (+14.6p), while 25 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 162.5p and levelled at 138.1p (-4.6p).

In the rough ring 112 beef cows averaged 119.2p (-3.4p) and 196 dairy cows levelled at 82.8p (-2.1p). Twenty-two bulls averaged 129.9p (+8.5p).

The firm also sold 2453 prime lambs to a top of £83.80 and 200p to average 149.5p (+10.3p).

The 230 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £88 for Texels.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1815 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £80 and 183.7p to average 143.4p (+8.2p).

There were also 858 cast sheep forward that met a similar trade to last week with ewes selling to £110.50 for Texels and £57.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £48.41 (+29p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 12 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 256p and an average of 237.4p (+2.2p), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 216p and levelled at 208.7p (-2.8p). Four prime, B&W bullocks sold to 152p and averaged 148p (+1.8p).

In the rough ring 49 beef cows averaged 121.1p (-3.1p) and 42 dairy cows levelled at 90.1p (+0.9p).

The firm also sold 1667 prime lambs to a top of £80 and 178.4p to average 150.1p (+11.7p).

The 539 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £123.50 for a Texel and £52.50 for Blackfaces.
