United Auctions held their annual show and sale of suckled calves at Stirling on Monday when 810 heifers sold to 274.7p per kg and averaged 231.5p (-20.5p on the year), while 1215 bullocks peaked at 335.2p and levelled at 247.2p (-19.3p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 2782 prime lambs in Lanark on Monday to a top of £78.80 per head and 183.3p per kg to average 136.2p (-14p on the week).

The firm also had 898 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £129.50 for Texels and £56.50 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 5 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1419 per head and 233p per kg to average £1345.45 and 225p.

In the rough ring 96 beef cows averaged 117.9p and 169 dairy cows levelled at 83.1p. Twenty-four bulls averaged 98.3p.

Another large show of 31 dairy cattle sold to £1480 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1152.
