United Auctions sold 32 Aberdeen-Angus bulls at Stirling on Monday to a top of 20,000gns for one from HP & LS Whittaker, Schoolhouse, Ballyward, Co. Down, N. Ireland to average £4554 (+£72 on the year) for a 74 per cent clearance. Twenty-seven females sold to 11,000gns and averaged £4070.

Limousin bulls peaked at 13,500gns for Bruce Goldie, Townfoot, Mouswald to level at £4552 (-£362) for 43 (a 68 per cent clearance). Twenty-one females averaged £2025.

Beef Shorthorn bulls sold to 5500gns to average £3248 (-£403) for 14 (a 100 per cent clearance), while 75 females sold to a top of 7,200gns and levelled at £2204.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 9 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1421.55 per head and 243p per kg to average £1227.46 and 218.5p, while 4 prime bullocks peaked at £1391.20 and 188p to level at £1220.43 and 177.3p.

In the rough ring 90 beef cows averaged 112.3p and 98 dairy cows levelled at 82.5p. Ten bulls averaged 199.5p.

A smaller show of 12 dairy cattle sold to £1700 for an HF heifer and averaged £1254 (+£102 on the week).
