Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 77 store heifers in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of £1200 per head and 254.2p per kg to average £754.10 and 205.1p, while 89 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1080 and 263p to level at £825.30 and 204.7p. Fifty-eight store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to £835 and 150.5p to average £510.60 and 141.9p.

The firm went on to sell 1811 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £80 per head and 174.4p per kg to average 145.8p (+4.1p on the week).

There were also 528 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £90 for a pen of Suffolks and £57 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 48 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 254p and an average of 222.3p (-1.5p), while 25 prime bullocks peaked at 252p and levelled at 214.3p (-7p). Eight prime bulls sold to 230p and averaged 174.3p.

In the rough ring 75 beef cows averaged 119.3p (+5p) and 6 clean OTM dairy cattle levelled at 94p.

The firm also sold 2088 prime lambs to a top of £85 and 177.6p to average £64.90 and 147.1p (+6p).

The 619 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £81 for SuffolkX and average £64.91, while light ewes peaked at £55 for Cheviots and levelled at £40.15.

The firm also sold 14 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 227.5p and an average of 189.3p (+9.2p), while 28 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 231.5p and levelled at 185.1p (+0.6p). Ten prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 157.5p and averaged 138.7p (-2.8p). Fifty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 217.5p and averaged 182.2p (-1.6p), while 41 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 161.5p and levelled at 137p (-3.6p).

In the rough ring 179 beef cows averaged 109.9p (-11.2p) and 292 dairy cows levelled at 79.3p (-11.5p). Six bulls averaged 92.2p (-16.2p).

There were also 2271 prime lambs that sold to £83.80 and 212.5p to average 152.5p (+3.4p).

The 330 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £84 for Suffolks and average £60.34, while light ewes peaked at £67 for Cheviots and levelled at £46.57.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 236.2p (+2.1p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 225p and levelled at 209.2p (-0.8p). Fifteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 139.5p and averaged 135.4p (+0.9p).

In the rough ring 43 beef cows averaged 117.4p (+2.9p) and 52 dairy cows levelled at 85p (+4.9p).

The firm also sold 1322 prime lambs to a top of £83 and 188.6p to average 153p (+8.4p).

The 491 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £110 for a Texel and £45.26 for Blackfaces.
