Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 13 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 236p per kg and an average of 226.3p, while a prime beef-bred bullock sold for 195p and a prime B&W bullock fetched 169p. Prime bulls sold for 188p and 186p.
In the rough ring 107 beef cows averaged 98.4p and 161 dairy cows levelled at 78.5p. Thirteen clean OTM cattle averaged 139.4p and 8 bulls levelled at 106p.
Another large show of 22 dairy cattle sold to £1580 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1121.
Wallets Marts sold 1556 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £80 per head and 205.1p per kg to average 153.7p (-1.2p on the week).
There were also 708 cast sheep forward that met a similar trade to last week with ewes selling to £89 for a Suffolk and £55 for Blackfaces.
