Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 32 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 246p per kg and an average of 217.5p (+6.6p on the week), while 20 prime bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 210p (-1p).
In the rough ring 37 beef cows averaged 104.2p (+4.2p).
There were also 2124 prime lambs that sold to £98 per head and 220.5p per kg to average £72.44 and 170p (+19.1p).
The 584 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £122 for Texels and average £61.14, while light ewes peaked at £70 for Cheviots and levelled at £51.57.
The firm also sold 10 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 224.5p and an average of 202.7p (+15.9p), while 10 prime bullocks peaked at 222.5p and levelled at 197.1p (+7.8p). Twenty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 205.5p and averaged 177.8p (-3.1p), while 46 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 177.5p and levelled at 139.4p (+4.9p).
In the rough ring 42 beef cows averaged 117.8p (+6.2p) and 76 dairy cows levelled at 77.4p (+4.7p). Five bulls averaged 87.9p (-9.6p).
There were also 3483 prime lambs that sold to £96.80 and 225.8p to average 166.3p (+10.2p).
A small show of 68 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £103.50 for Texels and light ewes peak at £77.50 for Cheviots.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1545 prime lambs yesterday in their mart at Whitefordhill, Ayr to a top of £90 and 197.6p to average 162.4p (+12.2p).
The firm also had 438 cast sheep forward when over-fat ewes met a similar trade to last week while all other classes were sharper. Ewes sold to £134.50 for Texels and £55.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £55.25.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 249p and an average of 234.2p (+1p), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 243p and levelled at 216.3p (+4p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 135.5p and averaged 132.5p (no change).
In the rough ring 13 beef cows averaged 90.1p (+4.5p) and 14 dairy cows levelled at 70.5p (n/c).
The firm also sold 1790 prime lambs to a top of £86 and 201.2p to average 163.3p (+13.1p).
The 885 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £138.50 for a Texel and £62.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £55.96.
