CRAIG Wilson Ltd sold 1021 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £92 per head and 190.7p per kg to average 169.1p (+5.1p on the week).
There were also 329 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £110 for a pen of Suffolks and £59.50 for Blackfaces with the overall average levelling at £59.68.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 41 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 246p per kg and an average of 214.6p (+2.3p), while 18 prime bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 213.2p (-0.9p).
In the rough ring 57 beef cows averaged 124.7p (+4.2p).
There were also 1305 prime hoggs that sold to £96 and 199p to average £76 and 174.1p (+2.6p).
The 515 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £116 for a Texel and average £62.23, while light ewes peaked at £70 for Cheviots and levelled at £51.44.
The firm also sold 21 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 221.5p and an average of 190.6p (-1.4p), while 26 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 223.5p and levelled at 184.7p (-14.1p). Seven prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 161.5p and averaged 145.3p (+7.4p).
Sixteen prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 189.5p and averaged 168.6p (-16.5p), while 27 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 157.5p and levelled at 131.3p (-5.4p).
In the rough ring 57 beef cows averaged 119.9p (+2.2p) and 164 dairy cows levelled at 79.8p (+2.4p). Four bulls averaged 120p (+32.1p).
There were also 2049 prime hoggs that sold to £94 and 232.5p to average 171.9p (-1.8p).
A small show of 148 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £107.50 for Texels and average £70.12, while light ewes peaked at £47.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £33.63.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 247p and an average of 229p, while 4 prime beef-bred bullocks peaked at 218p and levelled at 217p. Three prime, B&W bullocks sold to 126p and averaged 122p.
In the rough ring 4 beef cows averaged 113p and 11 dairy cows levelled at 73p.
The firm also sold 2107 prime hoggs to a top of £90 and 217p to level at 171.6p (+4.4p).
The 614 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £134.50 for a Texel and average £62.48. That overall average included 226 Blackface ewes that peaked at £70.50.
A small show of 9 dairy cattle sold to £1200 for a Holstein Friesian and average £1007.58.
