C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 61 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 211.2p per kg and an average of 187.7p, while 83 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 231.9p and levelled at 203.1p. Twenty store B&W bullocks sold to 154.8p and averaged 138.6p, while 6 store bulls peaked at 230.7p and levelled at 217.5p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1524 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £95 per head and 207.1p per kg to average 176.5p (+5.9p on the week).
There were also 702 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £94 for Texels and £54.50 for Blackfaces, and the overall average levelled at £53.10.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 58 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 240p and an average of 212.1p (+2.6p), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 244p and levelled at 200.6p (-1p).
In the rough ring 115 beef cows averaged 122.9p (+3.9p).
There were also 1974 prime hoggs that sold to £104 and 215p to average £77.80 and 177p (+0.5p).
The 647 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £120 for a Texel and average £69.39, while light ewes peaked at £70 for Cheviots and levelled at £49.93.
The firm also sold 7 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 215.5p and an average of 176.3p (-18.8p), while 30 prime bullocks peaked at 216.5p and averaged 187.3p (-8.2p). Thirty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 224.5p and averaged 174.6p (-2.5p), while 51 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 184.4p and levelled at 133.7p (+5.9p).
In the rough ring 85 beef cows averaged 119.5p (-0.6p) and 254 dairy cows levelled at 87.2p (+3.6p).
There were also 2589 prime hoggs that sold to £100 and 243.1p to average 179.7p (+4.3p).
A small show of 167 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £93.50 for Texels and average £63.85, while light ewes peaked at £68 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £55.13.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 248p and an average of 234.6p (-3.6p), while 21 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 202.4p (-5.2p). Thirty-one prime B&W bullocks sold to 147.5p and averaged 132.8p (-2.1p).
In the rough ring 39 beef cows averaged 112p and 44 dairy cows levelled at 82.1p.
The firm also sold 2421 prime hoggs to a top of £104 and 230.5p to average 180.5p (+0.1p).
The 782 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £134.50 for a Texel and £64.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £60.35.
