C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 69 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 223.3p and an average of 193.6p (+5.9p on the fortnight), while 76 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 246.8p and levelled at 208.3p (+5.2p). Fifteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 126.8p and averaged 102.1p (-36.5p), while 14 store bulls peaked at 236.8p and levelled at 210.7p (-6.8p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1163 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £104 per head and 222.7p per kg to average 190.9p (+14.1p on the week).
There were also 444 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £131.50 for a pen of Texels and £69 for Blackfaces to average £64.68 overall.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 68 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 247p and an average of 208.1p (-0.4p), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 243p and levelled at 208.1p (+6.1p). A couple of prime bulls sold to 147p and averaged 140p.
In the rough ring 75 beef cows averaged 119.6p (+0.3p) and 8 dairy cows levelled at 87.2p.
There were also 1044 prime hoggs that sold to £106 and 234.7p to average £82 and 190.4p (+14p).
The 725 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £96 for Texels and average £73.71, while light ewes peaked at £80 for Cheviots and levelled at £57.46.
The firm also sold 9 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 208.5p and an average of 182.5p (+11.4p), while 28 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 221.5p and levelled at 188.4p (-6.5p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 175.5p and averaged 146.2p (+5.7p). Twenty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 218.5p and averaged 169.7p (-11p), while 64 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 175.5p and levelled at 125.6p (-1.2p).
In the rough ring 81 beef cows averaged 121.5p (+1.4p) and 274 dairy cows levelled at 86.5p (-0.3p). Ten bulls averaged 133.4p (+11.9p).
A small show of 136 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £84 for Texels and average £59.44, while light ewes peaked at £47.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £30.64.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 234.6p (-1.2p), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 215p (+1.1p). Eleven prime B&W bullocks sold to 144p and averaged 135.1p (+0.3p).
In the rough ring 13 beef cows averaged 113p (+0.5p) and 47 dairy cows levelled at 75.3p (-4.5p).
The firm also sold 2229 prime hoggs to a top of £104.50 and 221.1p to average 191.9p (+11.8p).
