C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 69 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 258.1p per kg and an average of 199.7p (+6.1p on the fortnight), while 80 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 266.7p and levelled at 209.4p (+1.1p). Nineteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 147p and averaged 124p (+21.9p), while 10 store bulls peaked at 225.3p and levelled at 211.9p (+1.2p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1125 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £103 per head and 214.6p per kg to average 178.6p (-0.5p on the week).
There were also 758 cast sheep when ewes sold to £144 for a pen of Texels and £76.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 56 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 240p and an average of 211p (+2.7p), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 200.5p (+1.5p).
In the rough ring 41 beef cows averaged 118.4p (+0.4p).
There were also 1630 prime hoggs that sold to £105.50 and 216.7p to average £79.50 and 183.5p (+2.7p).
The 670 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £121 for a Texel and average £94, while light ewes peaked at £79 for Cheviots and levelled at £59.
The firm also sold 16 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 226.5p and an average of 195.4p (+1p), while 21 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 208.1p and levelled at 183.1p (-8p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 183.1p and averaged 149.2p (-0.2p). Thirty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 209.5p and averaged 178.9p (+17.1p), while 66 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 164.5p and levelled at 129.8p (-2.7p).
In the rough ring 97 beef cows averaged 121.1p (-6.6p) and 303 dairy cows levelled at 87.6p (-0.8p). Thirteen bulls averaged 126.3p (-15p).
There were also 1536 prime hoggs that sold to £105.80 and 247.5p to average 185.5p (+2.7p).
A small show of 92 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £106.50 for Texels and average £70.88, while light ewes peaked at £61.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £55.96.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 248p and an average of 227.4p (no change), while 19 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 229p and levelled at 200.2p (-3.2p). Twenty prime, B&W bullocks sold to 143p and averaged 136.6p (+1,2p).
In the rough ring 41 beef cows averaged 115.2p (+3.1p) and 45 dairy cows levelled at 90.9p (+3.2p).
The firm also sold 2075 prime hoggs to a top of £105 and 250p to average 185.6p.
The 828 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £137.50 for a Texel and £76.50 for Blackfaces.
