Wallets Marts sold 161 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1125 per head and 250p per kg to average 217p (+5.5p on the fortnight), while 309 store bullocks peaked at £1170 and 251.9p to level at £920.57 and 227.5p (+3.1p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1958 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £102 per head and 220.9p per kg to average 184.9p (+7.6p on the week).
There were also 656 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £139 for a pen of Texels and £72 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 58 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 237p and an average of 204p (-7p on the week), while 23 prime bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 199.6p (-o.9p).
In the rough ring 42 beef cows averaged 116.3p (-1.9p) and 4 dairy cows levelled at 90p.
There were also 1690 prime hoggs that sold to £112 and 211.3p to average £84.95 and 188.8p (+5.3p).
The 641 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £112 for a Suffolk and average £70.24, while light ewes peaked at £88 for Cheviots and levelled at £56.63.
The firm also sold 13 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 220.5p and an average of 190.6p (-4.7p), while 32 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 212.5p and levelled at 187.7p (+4.6p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 146.5p and averaged 133.5p (-15.7p). Twenty-eight prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 198.5p and averaged 166.1p (-12.8p), while 60 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 152.5p and levelled at 126.4p (-3.3p).
In the rough ring 74 beef cows averaged 121p (-0.1p) and 277 dairy cows levelled at 87.9p (+0.3p). Eight bulls averaged 121.1p (-5.2p).
There were also 2171 prime hoggs that sold to £111.80 and 246p to average 191.7p (+6.2p).
A small show of 90 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £89.50 for Texels and average £70.96, while light ewes peaked at £64.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £57.96.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 27 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 231.2p (+1.4p), while 3 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 220p and levelled at 208.5p (+4.6p). Twenty-two prime, B&W bullocks sold to 145.5p and averaged 136.8p (+0.2p).
In the rough ring 14 beef cows averaged 116.5p (+1.9p) and 65 dairy cows levelled at 93.1p (+2.2p).
The firm also sold 2056 prime hoggs to a top of £100 and 232.6p to average 186.2p (+0.6p).
The 423 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £120 for a Texel and £72.50 for Blackfaces.
