Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had 1049 Aberdeen Angus and native-bred cattle forward in St Boswells on Thursday when heifers sold to £1130 per head and 315.6p per kg to average £771 and 206p, while bullocks peaked at £1250 and 298.6p to level at £910 and 225.2p.
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had a much smaller show of 2577 prime hoggs forward in Longtown on Thursday due to many abattoirs not operating on Friday and Monday as a result of the Easter weekend. Top prices on the day were £104 per head and 233p per kg with the final average levelling at 180p (-13.8p on the week).
There were also 2718 cast sheep when heavy ewes sold to £148 for a Texel and averaged £89.26 (+33.83), while light ewes peaked at £88 for Blackfaces and levelled at £58.72 (-19p). Rams sold to £131 for a Texel and averaged £81.58.
