Wallets Marts sold 159 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1360 per head and 263.6p per kg to average £861.38 and 206.2p (-8.4p on the fortnight), while 222 store bullocks peaked at £1170 and 269.2p to level at £909.19 and 224.7p (+0.5p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1664 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £107 per head and 215.9p per kg to average 180.3p (+0.2p on the week).
There were also 627 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £146 for Texels and £77.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 55 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 235p and an average of 206.7p (-5.3p), while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 199p (-2.8p). Four prime bulls sold to 224p and averaged 163p.
In the rough ring 26 beef cows averaged 116p (+4p) and 9 dairy cows levelled at 81p.
There were also 1480 prime hoggs that sold to £105 and 221p to average £87 and 185p (+2.5p), while seven prime lambs peaked at £119 and 228.8p to level at £97.85 and 201.4p.
A small show of 115 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £141 for a Suffolk and average £97, while light ewes peaked at £95 for Cheviots and levelled at £73.57.
The firm also sold 8 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 210.5p and an average of 190.9p (-4.1p), while 12 prime, bullocks also peaked at 201.5p but levelled at 178.7p (-4p). Nine prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 185.5p and averaged 175.6p (-5.7p), while 11 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 155.5p and levelled at 137.4p (+1.9p).
In the rough ring 31 beef cows averaged 116.8p (-16.2p) and 153 dairy cows levelled at 88.7p (+1.7p). Three bulls averaged 118.3p (-5.7p).
There were also 1738 prime hoggs forward that sold to £115.80 and 268.5p to average 191.3p (+3.7p).
A small show of 51 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £93.50 for Texels.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 25 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 240p and an average of 226.1p (-3.1p), while a prime, beef-bred bullock fetched 190p. Fourteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 140p and averaged 130.2p no change).
In the rough ring 22 beef cows averaged 118.2p (+0.2p) and 58 dairy cows levelled at 87.5p (no change).
The firm also sold 1856 prime hoggs to a top of £107.50 and 231.3p to average 188.8p (-1p).
The 604 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £146.50 for a Texel and Blackfaces to £78.50.
