Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 177 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1130 per head and 241.1p per kg to average £815.45 and 204.5p (+0.8p on the fortnight), while 292 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1155 and 275p to level at £861.63 and 208.7p (-0.2p). Eighty-eight store, B&W bullocks sold to £770 and 152.2p to average £657.56 and 138.4p (+3.8p).
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had 609 store cattle forward in St Boswells on Thursday when heifers sold to a top of £1170 and 249.3p to average £840 and 202p, while bullocks peaked at £1230 and 251.3p to level at £950 and 211.2p.
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 3732 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £120 per head and 308p per kg to average 197p (+17p on the week).
The firm also had 3111 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £155 for Texels and averaged £99.30 (+£10.04), while light ewes peaked at £87 for Blackfaces and levelled at £64.43 (+£5.71). Rams sold to £168 for a Texel and averaged £98.10.
