C&D Auction Marts sold 55 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 291.5p per kg and an average of 195p (-0.4p on the fortnight), while 100 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 299p and levelled at 204.6p (+0.3p). Forty-five store, B&W bullocks sold to 144.8p and averaged 128.3p (+8.2p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1889 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £109 per head and 231.7p per kg to average 190.3p (+10.2p on the week), while a pen of 4 prime Zwartble lambs fetched 200.1p.
The firm also had 564 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £146 for Texels and £81.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 50 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 237.5p and an average of 210.2p (+3.5p), while 31 prime bullocks peaked at 229.5p and levelled at 201.4p (+2.4p). Four prime bulls sold to 209.5p and averaged 191.1p.
In the rough ring 30 beef cows averaged 124.6p (+8.6p) and 3 dairy cows levelled at 82.8p,
There were also 1320 prime hoggs forward that sold to £110 and 213.8p to average £89 and 190p (+5p), while 7 prime lambs peaked at £121 and 242p to level at £117.50 and 227p.
A nice show of 255 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £120 for Beltex and average £94.50, while light ewes peaked at £87 for Cheviots and levelled at £75.
The firm also sold 16 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 215.5p and an average of 185.1p (-5.9p), while 27 prime bullocks peaked at 210.5p and levelled at 174.2p (-4.5p). Thirty-four prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 206.5p and averaged 160p (-15.6p), while 64 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 154.5p and levelled at 128.3p (-9p).
In the rough ring 73 beef cows averaged 116.8p (-0.1p) and 318 dairy cows levelled at 84.9p (-3.8p). Six bulls averaged 130.2p (+11.8p).
There were also 1937 prime hoggs forward that sold to £110 and 238.1p to average 189.5p (-1.7p).
A small show of 48 cast sheep was topped by Suffolk ewes that fetched £101.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 239p and an average of 225.4p (-1.2p), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 210p and levelled at 201.2p (+5.6p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 131.5p and averaged 131.3p (+1.1p).
In the cast ring 17 beef cows averaged 116.4p (-2.1p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 89.6p (+2p).
The firm also sold 2491 prime hoggs to £110.50 and 231.1p to average 193.5p (+4.7p).
The 337 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £161.50 for a Texel and £84.50 for Blackfaces.
