Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 295 store heifers in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of £1210 per head and 252.1p per kg to average £754.68 and 203.3p, while 437 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1255 and 263.2p to level at £864.87 and 211.9p. One-hundred-and-thirty-nine store, B&W bullocks sold to £800 and 183.3p to average £601.58 and 148.2p.
The firm went on to sell 1754 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £101 per head and 217.8p per kg to average 175.9p (+2.4p on the week).
There were also 540 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £128 for Texels and £73.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 54 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 228p and an average of 202p (-2.1p), while 32 prime bullocks peaked at 218p and levelled at 196.3p (+3.9p). Four prime bulls sold to 219p and averaged 164p.
In the rough ring 30 beef cows averaged 120p (-3p).
There were also 818 prime hoggs that sold to £105 and 211p to average £87 and 183p (+7p), while 9 spring lambs levelled at £96 and 220p (+2p).
The 169 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £103 for Texels and average £83, while light ewes peaked at £90 for Cheviots and levelled at £72.
The firm also sold 5 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 221.5p and an average of 189.3p (+2p), while 36 prime bullocks peaked at 209.5p and levelled at 180.9p 9+9.4p). Thirty-three prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 203.5p and averaged 169.1p (-7.7p), while 35 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 161.5p and levelled at 135.3p (+0.3p).
In the rough ring 91 beef cows averaged 117.8p (-3.6p) and 261 dairy cows levelled at 88.5p (-1.3p). Twenty-two bulls averaged 120p (-15.2p).
There were also 1575 prime hoggs that sold to £110.80 and 246p to average 180.4p (+3.7p), while 29 prime lambs peaked at £118.80 and 261.6p to level at 180.7p.
A small show of 65 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £97.50 for Texels.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 23 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 245p and an average of 220.2p (-4.5p), while 21 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 198.9p (+2.1p). Sixteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 140.5p and averaged 129.5p (+4.1p).
In the rough ring 22 beef cows averaged 118.5p (+1p) and 28 dairy cows levelled at 88.6p (-1.8p).
The firm also sold 1192 prime hoggs to a top of £106 and 240.9p to average 187.2p (+12.7p).
The 265 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £148.50 for Texels and £78.50 for Blackfaces.
