C&D Auction Marts Ltd incorporated a sale of organic cattle into its fortnightly sale of store cattle in Dumfries on Monday. The 46 store, organic heifers forward sold to a top of 261p per kg and averaged 193p, while 76 store, organic bullocks peaked at 295.7p and levelled at 228.9p. In the non-organic section 72 heifers sold to 244.2p and averaged 200.9p (+5.9p on the fortnight), while 152 bullocks peaked at 248.6p and levelled at 201.4p (-3.2p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 6 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1177.20 per head and 216p per kg to average £1099.73 and 205.2p.

In the rough ring 35 beef cows averaged 125.6p and 86 dairy cows levelled at 82.9p. Nine bulls averaged 116.4p.

There were also 9 dairy cattle forward that sold to £1280 for a freshly-calved Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £865.55.

Wallets Marts sold 444 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £89 per head and 191.3p per kg to average 174.3p (+8.2p on the week).

A small show of 73 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £113 for Texels and £72 for Blackfaces.
