United Auctions sold 644 store heifers at Stirling on Wednesday to a top of 261.2p per kg and an average of 208.8p (+5.1p on the week), while 860 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 280.3p and levelled at 219p (+5p). One-hundred-and-forty-seven store, B&W bullocks sold to 206.4p and averaged 133.3p (+2.6p).

In the rough ring 73 beef cows averaged 113.7p and 22 dairy cows levelled at 91.8p.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 6 prime heifers in Dumfries on Wednesday to a top of 218.5p and an average of 196.3p.

There were 68 OTM cattle presented in the rough ring when beef cows averaged 118p and dairy cows levelled at 92.9p.

The firm also sold 420 prime hoggs to a top of £96.20 per head and 185p per kg to average 164.2p (-17.2p), while 111 prime lambs peaked at £95 and 244p to level at 202.8p.

There were also 247 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £100 for Texels and averaged £65.3p (-£19.27), while light ewes peaked at £66.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £48.59 (-£20.41).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 552 prime hoggs in Newton Stewart on Wednesday to a top of £91.50 and 205.4p to average 170p (+1.9p). Included in that overall average were 168 Blackfaces that peaked at £90 and 183.7p to level at 164p.

A small show of 116 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £108 for Texels and £69.50 for Blackfaces.
