Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1272 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £97 per head and 214.3p per kg to average 175.1p (+9.1p on the week), while 110 prime lambs peaked at £115 and 239.5p to level at 212.8p (-13.7p).
The firm also had 688 cast sheep forward that were between £2 and £5 sharper on the week with ewes selling to £134.50 for Texels and £69.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 38 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 239p per kg and an average of 204.4p (+7.4p), while 20 prime bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 199p (+4p).
In the rough ring 18 beef cows averaged 126.6p (+5.6p) and 6 dairy cows levelled at 95.2p.
There were also 1175 prime hoggs that sold to £100 and 206p to average 180.7p (+23p), while 24 prime lambs peaked at £110 and 244p to level at 225p (+18p).
The 321 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £106 for Texels and average £71, while light ewes peaked at £73 for Cheviots and levelled at £48.
The firm also sold a prime heifer in Carlisle yesterday for 149.5p, while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 206.5p and levelled at 186.8p (-2.7p). Twenty-two prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 211.5p and averaged 172.1p (+1.3p), while 35 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 173.5p and levelled at 128.8p (-6.2p).
In the rough ring 36 beef cows averaged 120.3p (-3.1p) and 154 dairy cows levelled at 90.8p (-1.7p). Eight bulls averaged 138.8p.
There were also 1360 prime hoggs that sold to £100 and 221.1p to average 173.3p (+2.5p), while 68 prime lambs peaked at £118 and 302.6p to level at 221.1p (+26.7p).
A small show of 87 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £105 for Texels, while light ewes peaked at £63 for Hill Cheviots.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 22 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 244p and an average of 223.1p (-0.1p), while 8 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 202.4p (+0.6p). Ten prime, B&W bullocks sold to 137.5p and averaged 129.1p (-1.3p).
In the rough ring 36 beef cows averaged 118.6p (-1.1p) and 46 dairy cows levelled at 88.1p (+0.6p).
The firm also sold 1376 prime hoggs to a top of £104.50 and 237.5p to average 177.5p (+6.1p). while 12 prime lambs peaked at £108 and 241.5p to level at 226.4p (+7.5p).
The 340 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £136.50 for a Texel and £67.50 for Blackfaces.
