Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 121 pedigree Limousin bulls in Carlisle on Saturday to a top of 20,000gns and an average of £6418 (+£691 on the year for an 87 per cent clearance).

The firm went on to sell 6 prime heifers in the same venue yesterday to a top of 224.5p per kg and an average of 195.3p (+45.8p on the week), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 211.5p and levelled at 191p (+4.2p). Forty-nine prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 203.5p and averaged 161.3p (-10.8p), while 64 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 143.5p and levelled at 118p (-10.9p).

In the rough ring 122 beef cows averaged 119.1p (-1.2p) and 220 dairy cows levelled at 93.9p (+3.1p). Fourteen bulls averaged 132.9p (-5.9p).

There were also 1566 prime hoggs that sold to £111.80 per head and 230.5p per kg to average 184.9p (+11.6p), while 95 prime lambs peaked at £121.50 and 264.1p to level at 220.8p (-0.3p).

A small show of 107 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £92.50 for Texels and £74 for Hill Cheviots.

The firm also sold 47 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 242p and an average of 201.2p (-3.1p), while 25 prime bullocks peaked at 237p and levelled at 197.3p (-2.2p).

In the rough ring 47 beef cows averaged 124p (-2.6p).

There were also 913 prime hoggs that sold to £105 and 215p to average £84 and 177p (-3p), while 57 prime lambs peaked at £112 and 247p to level at £96 and 218p (-7p).

The 393 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £108 for a Suffolk and average £77, while light ewes peaked at £76 for Lleyns and levelled at £54.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 990 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £98 and 204.6p to average 175.1p (no change), while 58 prime lambs peaked at £115 and 243.6p to level at 222p (+10.1p).

The 570 cast sheep forward were again sharper on the week with ewes selling to £136 for a pen of Texels and £76.50 for Blackfaces.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 29 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 260p per kg and an average of 226.6p (-3.1p), while 8 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 201.4p (+1.1p). Eight prime, B&W bullocks sold to 142.5p and averaged 134.5p (+4.9p).

In the rough ring 32 beef cows averaged 120.4p (+1.9p) and 48 dairy cows levelled at 88.8p (+1p).

The firm also sold 1404 prime hoggs to a top of £100.50 and 221.1p to average 179.5p (+2p), while 32 prime lambs peaked at £116 and 269.8p to level at 219.3p (-7.1p).

The 342 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £145.50 for a Texel and £74.50 for Blackfaces.
