MESSRS Craig Wilson Ltd sold eight prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 225p per kg and an average of 214.4p or £1160.33 per head, while a prime bullock fetched 212p or £1325.
In the rough ring 50 beef cows sold to £1290 or 163.3p for a Limousin and averaged 128.8p, while 114 dairy cows peaked at £950 for a Frisian and 124.6p to level at 88.9p.
Three bulls sold to £1240 or 182.3p for a Blonde and averaged 116.1p.
The firm also had 21 dairy cattle forward. Top prices and averages for pedigree Holstein Friesians: bulls to 1750gns and averaged £1662.50 for three; heifers 1350gns and £1232.70 for five; commercial dairy cattle £1200 (x2) for Holstein Friesian heifers and averaged £987.27.
Wallets Marts had 792 prime lambs forward in Castle Douglas yesterday when all classes proved short of requirements. Top prices were £104 per head and 218.5p per kg, with the final average levelling at £84.85 and 206.4p (+22.4p on the week).
There were also 235 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £127 for Texels, £85 for Mules and £65.50 for Blackfaces.
