UNITED Auctions sold 4160 store lambs at Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds: Suffolks to £68.50 and averaged £63.93 (+£4.39 on the week), Texels £79 and £61.40 (+£1.95); BTex £66 and £64.31 (+£9.22); Mules £62.50 and £54.91 (-83p); Blackfaces £43 and £41.47 (+£1.82).
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 260p per kg and an average of 223p (+2p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 212p (+3.5p). A couple of prime, B&W bullocks sold to 141p and averaged 135p.
In the rough ring 42 beef cows averaged 122p (-1p) and 30 dairy cows levelled at 90.1p (-1.4p).
The firm also sold 2088 prime lambs to a top of £100 per head and 219.1p per kg to average 189.2p (+8.3p).
The 634 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £159 for a Texel and £70.50 for Blackfaces.
Wallets Marts sold 1847 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £101 and 233p per kg to average 191.5p (+8.4p on the week and +46p on the corresponding sale last year).
There were also 376 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £106 for Texels and £58.50 for Blackfaces.
