Wallets Marts sold 54 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 241.3p and an average of 222.1p, while 13 store bullocks peaked at 233.2p and levelled at 207.4p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2427 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £100 per head and 220.9pper kg to average 183.5p (-4.3p on the week).

The 1083 cast sheep saw all classes £5-£7 cheaper on the week with ewes selling to £126.50 for Texels and £56.50 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 57 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 245p and an average of 219.3p (-0.2p), while 16 prime bullocks peaked at 241p and levelled at 223.4p (+8.4p).

In the rough ring 22 beef cows sold to 185p and averaged 142p (+10.7p).

There were also 1938 prime lambs that sold to £102.50 and 222p to average £78 and 188p (no change).

The 863 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £115 for Texels and average £8, while light ewes peaked at £74 for Cheviots and levelled at £57.

The firm also sold 9 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 249.5p and an average of 233.3p (+22.2p), while 18 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 233.5p and levelled at 203.3p (+8.2p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks averaged 164.7p. Thirty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 218.5p and averaged 194.3p (+5.7p), while 35 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 165.5p and levelled at 139.2p (+2.4p).

In the rough ring 127 beef cows sold to 199.5p and averaged 131.5p (+5.5p), while 191 dairy cows peaked at 167.5p and levelled at 94.9p (+4.4p).

There were also 2143 prime lambs that sold to £120 and 241p to average 194.2p (+0.7p).

The 207 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £103 for Texels and average £69.94, while light ewes peaked at £47.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £44.71.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 255p and an average of 239.3p, while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 241p and levelled at 230.6p. Four prime, B&W bullocks averaged 138.1p.

In the rough ring 27 beef cows averaged 125.5p and 23 dairy cows levelled at 94.4p.

The firm also sold 2507 prime lambs to a top of £100 and 213.2p to average 183.2p (-6p).

The 731 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £130.50 for a Texel and £64.50 for Blackfaces.
