UNITED Auctions sold 6302 store lambs and feeding sheep at Stirling on Monday.
Top prices and averages for selected breeds of store lambs: Suffolks to £74 and averaged £62.90 (-£1.03 on the week); Texels £79.50 and £60.21 (-£1.19); Mules £65 and £55.12 (+21p); Blackfaces £54 and £39.34 (-£2.13).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1268.50 per head and 231p per kg to average £1185.68 and 200.3p, while 6 prime bullocks peaked at £1335.90 and 192p to level at £1261 and 187.3p.
In the rough ring 80 beef cows sold to £1120 and 169.5p to average 127.3p, while 98 dairy cows peaked at £1000 and 127.9p to level at 92.5p. Eleven bulls sold to £1320 and 126.3p to average 104.9p.
The firm also sold 10 dairy cattle to a top of £1600 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and an average of £1181.
Wallets Marts sold 1328 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £100 per head and 212.5p per kg to average £76.10 and 179.7p (-11.8p on the week).
The 540 cast sheep forward were also cheaper on the week with ewes selling to £119 for Texels and £52.50 for Blackfaces.
