LAWRIE & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 258p per kg and an average of 235p (-2.1p on the week), while 7 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 245p and levelled at 216p (-2.6p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 169.5p and averaged 138.5p (+0.4p).

In the rough ring 47 beef cows averaged 120.5p (-5.5p) and 57 dairy cows levelled at 90.4p (-4p).

The firm also sold 2343 prime lambs to a top of £99.50 per head and 212p per kg to average 177.2p (-6p).

A large show of 911 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £137.50 for Texels and £66.50 for Blackfaces.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 3 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 230p and an average of 228.4p, while 9 prime bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 198p.

In the rough ring 86 beef cows sold to £1250 per head and 162.8p per kg to average 126.2p, while 154 dairy cows peaked at £940 and 119.1p to level at 91.4p. Sixteen bulls sold to £1300 and 182.4p to average 125.8p.

There were also 13 dairy cattle forward that sold to £1480 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1109.
