C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 184 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 222.1p per kg and an average of 192p (-5.6p on the fortnight), while 235 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 258.6p and levelled at 206.9p (-3.4p). Thirty-four store, B&W bullocks sold to 150.4p and averaged 132.6p (+4.8p), while 12 store bulls peaked at 281p and levelled at 197p (no comparison).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2195 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £94 per head and 204.8p per kg to average 170.4p (-6.9p on the week but +26.3p on the corresponding sale last year).
There were also 1129 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £129.50 Texels and £61.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 48 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 254p and an average of 220.8p (-4.3p), while 17 prime bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 221p (-3.2p). Three prime bulls sold to 223p and averaged 214p (n/c).
In the rough ring 50 beef cows sold to 183p and averaged 134.8p (-5.7p).
There were also 1832 prime lambs that sold to £104 and 211.4p to average 181.5p (-2.5p).
The 647 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £90 for Bluefaced Leicesters and average £69, while light ewes peaked at £79 for Cheviots and levelled at £48.
The firm also sold 19 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 237.5p and an average of 194.1p (+2.7p), while 6 prime bullocks peaked at 235.6p and levelled at 213.2p (+20.5p). Forty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 222.5p and averaged 193p (+5.6p), while 43 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 175.5p and levelled at 148.4p (+9.1p).
In the rough ring 97 beef cows sold to 210.5p and averaged 123.1p (-3.6p), while 221 dairy cows peaked at 132.5p and levelled at 86.4p. Eight bulls sold to 125.5p and averaged 115.7p (-6p).
There were also 1803 prime lambs that sold to £113.80 and 257.7p to average 182.8p (+0.2p).
A small show of 132 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £121.50 for Texels and average £69.88, while light ewes peaked at £57.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £38.22.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 235.1p (-1.1p), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 206.7p (-8.2p). Eleven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 164.5p and averaged 142.1p (+4.1p).
In the rough ring 68 beef cows averaged 121p (+1.3p) and 38 dairy cows levelled at 90p (-1p).
There were also 2664 prime lambs that sold to £100 and 210p to average 173.2p (-7.9p).
The 822 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell top £128.50 for a Texel and £59.50 for Blackfaces.
