UNITED Auctions held their "Perth" show and sale of suckled calves at Stirling on Monday when 297 heifers sold to £1560 per head and 337.9p per kg to average 235.9p (+3.1p on the year), while 410 bullocks peaked at £1260 and 272.9p to level at 233.5p (-7.1p).

The firm also had 5773 store lambs and feeding sheep forward. Top prices and averages for selected breeds of store lambs: Suffolks to £71.50 and averaged £62.15 (-£1.92 on the week); Texels £70 and £59.58 (-£3.20); Mules £63 and £57.55 (+£1.15); Blackfaces £55.50 and £44.01 (+57p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2569 prime lambs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £93 per head and 200p per kg to average 166.3p (-3.7p on the week but +32.1p on the corresponding sale last year).

There was also a large show of 1511 cast sheep forward when all classes were also easier on the week with ewes selling to £125.50 for Texels and £66 for Blackfaces.

Wallets Marts sold 1504 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £95 and 208.8p to average £71.39 and 169p (-5.3p).

There were also 599 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £94 for Texels and £53 for Blackfaces.
