C&D Auction Marts Ltd had 622 store cattle forward in Dumfries on Monday that included 113 organic cattle. Thirty-six organic heifers sold to 221p per kg and averaged 205.2p, while 75 organic bullocks peaked at 240.5p and levelled at 221.8p.

In the non-organic section 144 heifers sold to 230.2p and averaged 188p (-4p on the fortnight), while 312 beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 201.4p (-5.5p). Fifty-three store, B&W bullocks sold to 130p and averaged 110.6p (-22p).

United Auctions had 11567 store and breeding sheep forward in Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds of store lambs: Texels to £75.50 and averaged £61.77 (+£2.19 on the week); Suffolks £72.50 and £60.96 (-£1.19); Mules £63.50 and £56.49 (-£1.06); Cheviots £58.50 and £51.53 (-£2.55); Blackfaces £56.50 and £42.89 (-£1.12).

In the breeding section: Scotch Mule gimmers £148 and £130.20 (+£21.02 on the year); Cheviot gimmers £160 and £130.32 (+£38.46); Scotch Mule ewe lambs £101 and £78.95 (+£5.16).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 247p and an average of 236.2p (+1.1p on the week), while 3 prime, B&W bullocks peaked at 136.5p and levelled at 136.2p (+3.1p).

In the rough ring 47 beef cows averaged 116p (-5p) and 52 dairy cows levelled at 86.5p (-3.5p).

The firm also sold 2589 prime lambs to a top of £93 per head and 206.8p per kg to average 166.2p (-7p).

The 719 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £138.50 for a Texel and £57.50 for Blackfaces.

Wallets Marts sold 1983 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £86.50 and 196.6p to average £71.86 and 165.8p (-3.2p).

There were also 470 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £83.50 for Texels and £51.50 for Blackfaces.
