C&D Auction Marts Ltd in conjunction with Moffat Sheepdog Society held their autumn annual sale of 60 working collies at Moffat on Saturday when registered working collies averaged £1823.
Top price on the day was 3000gns (£3150) for "Mac" a 19-month-old tricolour dog from Anthony McKeegan, Co. Antrim, followed by a 2800gns (£2940) bid for "Straid Goldie", a 2-year-old tricolour bitch from D Young, Straid.
Wallets Marts held their annual October show and sale of spring-born suckled calves, native-bred and continental store cattle in Castle Douglas on Saturday when 1931 head averaged £838.40 (-£36.97 on the year).
Spring-born heifer calves sold to £830 per head and 272.9p per kg to average 223.5p (+0.9p on the year), while spring-born bullocks peaked at £1000 and 313.7p to level at 247.7p (+8.9p).
In the native-bred section heifers sold to £1100 and 221.9p to average 194p (+4.2p), while bullocks peaked at £1260 and 230.9p to level at 196.6p (+7.1p).
The biggest section of the sale were the continentals where heifers sold to £1130 and 282.3p to average 206.6p (-2.5p), while bullocks peaked at £1200 and 259.6p to level at 214.5p (-7.8p).
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 42 prime heifers in St Boswells to a top of 245p and an average of 219p (+10p on the week), while 30 prime bullocks peaked at 244p and levelled at 217p (+12p).
In the rough ring 55 beef cows averaged 123.9p (-2.2p).
The firm also sold 2040 prime lambs to £95 per head and 205p per kg to average 170.1p (+2.1p).
A large show of 1223 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £91 for Texels and average £67, while light ewes peaked at £51 for Cheviots and levelled at £38.
The firm also sold 21 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 235.5p and an average of 199.3p (-1.2p), while 29 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219.5p and levelled at 188p (-11.2p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 157.5p and averaged 147.7p (-2.2p). Thirty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 247.5p and averaged 200.1p (+4.6p), while 60 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 176.5p and levelled at 146.1p (+5.7p).
In the rough ring 133 beef cows sold to 188.5p and averaged 118.7p (-2.1p), while 247 dairy cows peaked at 139.5p and levelled at 83.4p (-1.9p). Twenty-one bulls sold to 137.5p and averaged 112.3p (+0.4p).
There were also 1767 prime lambs that sold to £105.80 and 252p to average 174.5p (+5.1p).
The 215 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £97.50 for Texels and average £61.47, while light ewes peaked at £65 for Jacobs and levelled at £30.81.
