United Auctions held a sale of suckled calves at Stirling on Monday when 805 heifers sold to a top of 301.5p per kg and an average of 233p (-11.9p on the year), while 1561 bullocks peaked at 318.5p and levelled at 248p (-9.6p).
The firm also sold 5315 store lambs and feeding sheep. Top prices and averages for selected breeds of lambs: Suffolks to £70 and averaged £58.77 (-£6.22 on the fortnight); Texels £73 and £58.03 (-£2.97); Beltex £75.50 and £71.37 (+£3.08); Cheviots £57 and £49.37 (+£4.53); Mules £58.50 and £51.46 (-£3.55); Blackfaces £53 and £39.58 (-£4.39).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 13 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 231p and an average of 219.1p, while 3 prime bullocks peaked at 225p and levelled at 223.4p.
In the rough ring 133 beef cows sold to 162p per kg and averaged 92.4p, while 164 dairy cows levelled at 80.6p. Eleven bulls sold to 146.2p to average 96.2p.
The firm also sold 13 dairy cattle to a top of £1880 for a second-calved Ayrshire cow and an average of £1402.
Wallets Marts sold 914 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £87.50 per head and 191p per kg to average £72.97 and 166.4p (+17.1p on the week).
There were also 380 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £76 for Texels and £46 for Blackfaces.
