First Milk has announced that it is increasing the price it pays producers for "A" milk destined for its Scotland pool by 1.22p per litre (ppl) for November, raising the price of a standard litre to 21.24p. The company had previously announced a 5ppl increase in its "B" milk for November, lifting the price to 25ppl.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2504 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £94 per head and 195.1p per kg to average 162.1p (+3.1p on the week).

There were also 828 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £126 for Texels and £53 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 39 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 240p per kg and an average of 211.6p (no change on the week), while 17 prime bullocks also peaked at 240p but levelled at 216.1p (+10.7p).

In the rough ring 74 beef cows sold to 185p and averaged 114.2p (-0.5p).

There were also 1577 prime lambs that sold to £100 and 213.6p to average 171.6p (+1.6p).

The 729 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £105 for a Texel and average £74, while light ewes peaked at £83 for Cheviots and levelled at £41.

The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 222.5p and an average of 198.2p (+16.3p), while 23 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219.5p and levelled at 197.8p (+4p). Three prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 170.5p and averaged 153.8p (-0.3p). Thirty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 230.5p and averaged 196.5p (+12.2p), while 43 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 176.5p and levelled at 150.4p (+13.5p).

In the rough ring 151 beef cows sold to 199.5p and averaged 119p (+7.3p), while 181 dairy cows peaked at 149.5p and levelled at 83.8p (+5.1p). Ten bulls sold to 193.5p and averaged 123.7p (+9.2p).

There were also 2057 prime lambs that sold to £109.80 and 250.7p to average 171p (+7.8p).

A small show of 137 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £83 for Texels and average £58,07, while light ewes peaked at £55.50 for Hill cheviots and levelled at £42.55.

Lawrie & Synington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 249p and an average of 231.2p (-1.1p), while 15 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 225p and levelled at 213.4p (+2.5p). Fifteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 140.5p and averaged 134.8p (-0.8p).

In the rough ring 51 beef cows averaged 109p (-3p), while 47 dairy cows levelled at 80.2p (-3.8p).

The firm also sold 2465 prime lambs to a top of £102.50 and 225p to average 170.2p (+1.5p).

The 736 cast sheep forward included 298 Blackface ewes and averaged £54.10 overall.
