United Auctions held a sale of suckled calves at Stirling on Monday when 868 heifers sold to 461p per kg and averaged 237.2p (-0.2p on the year), while 1358 bullocks peaked at 301.7p and levelled at 247.8p (+1.6p).

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 152 store heifers at Dumfries on Monday to a top of 400p and an average of 183p (-13.8p on the fortnight), while 232 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 406.3p and levelled at 196.1p (-2.3p). Twenty-three store, B&W bullocks sold to 160.2p and averaged 121.1p (-16.5p), while 18 store bulls peaked at 221.7p and levelled at 190p (-18.3p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 249p and an average of 231.2p (-1.1p on the week), while 15 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 225p and levelled at 213.4p (+2.5p). Fifteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 140.5p and averaged 134.8p (-0.8p).

In the rough ring 51 beef cows averaged 109p (-3p) and 47 dairy cows levelled at 80.2p (-3.8p).

The firm also sold 2465 prime lambs to a top of £102.50 per head and 225p per kg to average 170.2p (+1.5p).

The 736 cast sheep forward included 298 Blackface ewes and averaged £54.10 overall.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 11 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 229p and an average of 217.4p, while a prime bullock fetched 215p.

In the rough ring 75 beef cows averaged 98.6p and 161 dairy cows levelled at 82.6p. Thirty clean OTM cattle averaged 141.2p.

Twelve dairy cattle sold to £1880 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1454.

The firm also had 110 head forward at its monthly sale of beef-breeding cattle.
