C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 61 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 214.8p per kg and an average of 185p (+2p on the fortnight), while 48 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 285p and levelled at 193.6p (-2.5p). Fifteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 166.6p and averaged 130.2p (+9.1p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1737 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £90 per head and 195.7p per kg to average 155.1p (-5.8p on the week).
There were also 487 cast sheep when ewes sold to £89.50 for Texels and £57.50 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 50 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 257p and an average of 212p (+0.4p), while 7 prime bullocks peaked at 240p and levelled at 218p (+6.4p).
In the rough ring 72 beef cows sold to 193p and averaged 120p (+16p).
There were also 1737 prime lambs that sold to £93 and 193p to average 158.7p (-7p).
The 639 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £81 for Suffolks and average £67, while light ewes peaked at £51 for Cheviots and levelled at £36.
The firm also sold 24 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 215.5p and an average of 184.4p (-3.7p), while 18 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219.5p and levelled at 196.9p (+5.3p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 154.5p and averaged 146p (-25p). Forty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 228.5p and averaged 190.4p (+3.3p). while 28 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 187.5p and levelled at 149.9p (+9.3p).
In the rough ring 156 beef cows sold to 184.5p and averaged 115.2p (-1.6p), while 250 dairy cows peaked at 168.5p and levelled at 84p (+1.3p). Nine bulls sold to 159.5p and averaged 116.2p (-7.2p).
There were also 2178 prime lambs that sold to £104.80 and 246.8p to average 166.3p (-2.7p).
The 206 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £83.50 for Suffolks and average £55.94, while light ewes peaked at £44.50 for Swaledales and levelled at £30.25.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 13 prime heifers in Lanark to a top of 259p and an average of 241.2p (+3.8p), while a couple of prime, beef-bred bullocks averaged 218p (+3p). Eleven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 135.5p and averaged 130.2p (-2.5p).
In the rough ring 46 beef cows averaged 112p (+2p) and 50 dairy cows levelled at 84p (+4p).
There were also 2163 prime lambs that sold to £94.50 and 221.3p to average 160.6p (-5.8p).
The 449 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £138.50 for Texels and average £71.03, while light ewes peaked at £47.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £37.31.
