Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 56 store heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of £1090 per head and 218.3p per kg to average £854.23 and 190.2p, while 109 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1120 and 231.8p to level at £932.83 and 197.8p. Forty-three store, dairy-bred bullocks averaged £531.63 and 129.2p.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 18 store heifers in Lockerbie yesterday to a top of 215p and an average of 182.8p, while 22 store bullocks peaked at 207.3p and levelled at 187.4p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 13 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1322.40 and 231p to average £1214.35 and 220.3p.
In the rough ring 90 beef cows sold to £1000 and 144.9p to average 92.2p, while 147 dairy cows peaked at £870 and 106.6p to level at 82.6p. Ten bulls sold to £1360 and 146.1p to average 101.7p.
There were also 8 dairy cattle that sold to £1820 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1339.
Wallets Marts sold 1241 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £80 per head and 178.1p to average 158p (-3.4p on the week).
