Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 29 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 249p and an average of 209.3p (-4.1p on the week), while 14 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 209.3p (-3.1p). Seventeen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 145.5p and averaged 131.2p (+1p).
In the rough ring 34 beef cows averaged 110.8p (-1.2p) and 48 dairy cows levelled at 79.7p (-4.3p). Three bulls averaged 138.4p.
The firm also sold 1819 prime lambs to a top of £105.50 and 222.5p to average 176.2p (+15.6p).
The 408 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £120.50 for Texels and average £65, while light ewes peaked at £58.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £32.79.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 11 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 231p and an average of 220.9p.
In the rough ring 90 beef cows averaged 93.8p and 140 dairy cows levelled at 83.7p. Nine bulls averaged 103p and 14 OTM clean cattle levelled at 139.6p.
There were also 10 dairy cattle forward that sold to £1750 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1369.
Wallets Marts sold 2435 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £85 and 207.3p to average £73.42 and 164.8p (+6.8p).
A nice show of 564 cast sheep sold to a top of £92 twice for a Texel ram and a Texel ewe, while Blackface ewes sold to £45.50.
